NOVEMBER 3 SCRIPT as of 10/23/09

NOVEMBER 3 AGENDA - 3 HOURS
Part A: Igniting Writing: “Focus on a Four”
Part B: Igniting Writing: Data Driven Teaching and Learning

Act 48 Meeting #2 IDEAS
  • Looking at Student Work:
  • Using the pre-assessment and find proficient and advance papers.
  • Why is it a four
  • What do we need to teach in order to make it a four?

  • Donna Merin:
here is an idea—go over the stages of the writing process, then, working in pairs have teachers draft pieces of writing using the three modes: informational, narrative, persuasive—or divide into groups according to the mode then pair to produce the piece. Then use the scoring guide to talk about the piece produced and also to think about how Student Writing can be improved using the scoring guide as a guide.

  • Blue Book

*
Use the above bullets above (collaborative sites for writing)
Have focus questions. Each group becomes an expert.
